Castres is a French municipality with 244 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Aisne department in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Saint-Quentin and the canton of Saint-Quentin-3 (until 2015: canton of Saint-Simon ). The inhabitants are called Castrais .

Castres is located about six kilometers southwest of Saint-Quentin in the Noyonnais and Somme , which borders the municipality in the northwest. Castres is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Dallon in the north and north-west, Grugies in the north and east, Essigny-le-Grand in the south and south-east, Contescourt in the west and south-west and Fontaine-lès-Clercs in the west and north-west.
