Grugies is located about four kilometers south-southwest of Saint-Quentin in the Noyonnais . Grugies is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Quentin in the north and north-west, Gauchy in the north, Urvillers in the east, Essigny-le-Grand in the south and Castres in the west and south-west.

The A26 autoroute runs along the northern edge of the municipality .
