Régny is a French commune with 1,525 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Roanne and the canton of Charlieu (until 2015: canton of Saint-Symphorien-de-Lay ).

Régny is about 13 kilometers east-southeast of Roanne on the Rhins River . Régny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montagny in the north, Saint-Victor-sur-Rhins in the east, Amplepuis in the southeast, Lay and Saint-Symphorien-de-Lay in the south, Neaux in the southwest and Pradines in the west.
