Medesano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 10,874 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna . The community is located about 16 kilometers west-southwest of Parma on the western side of the Taro .

Medesano is on the A15 autostrada from Parma towards La Spezia ( Liguria ). A junction is a little less than two kilometers east of the town center. There is a train station on the route from Fidenza to Fornovo di Taro . Medesano is on the Via Francigena , a pilgrimage route to Rome.
