history
The original core of today's Roccabianca, then known as Rezinoldo (or Arzenoldo), was probably first mentioned in a diploma issued by Emperor Friedrich Barbarossa in 1189 when he entrusted the feud to Marquis Oberto Pallavicino.
In 1375, Emperor Wenceslaus (HRR) of Luxembourg confirmed the rights of Niccolò Pallavicino to Ragazzola, while Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg in 1416 certified that Rezinoldo belonged to the brothers Giacomo and Pier Maria I de 'Rossi. The clashes between the two important families intensified and resulted in the Pallavicino family conquering the feuds of Zibello, Ragazzola and Rezinoldo and setting them on fire.
In 1449, the Duke of Milan officially granted Francesco Sforza the fief of the de 'Rossi family; the following year Pier Maria II. de 'Rossi began building the mighty fortress, which was completed in 1465; In 1467 the count donated the castle to his lover Bianca Pellegrini.
