The Omega ( German [ oːmeɡa ] or [ ɔmɛɡa ], Modern Greek [ ɔmɛɡa ]; ancient Greek neuter μέγα Ὂ and modern Greek Ωμέγα , big O 'spoken lang [see also Omicron ]; Majuskel Ω, minuscule ω) is the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet and has the number value 800 according to the Milesian system. Omega is often used to indicate an end and is therefore the opposite of the beginning, the alpha ( alpha and omega or "the alpha and omega "). In animal social groups, the last animal in the hierarchy is referred to as the omega animal (see also under alpha animal ).
