Darmont was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Roger Darmont began importing the Morgan three-wheelers made in England during the First World War . After the end of the war, he and his brother André founded the automobile production company in Courbevoie, France . He obtained the license to build the Morgan tricycle in France. He brought it to the market under the name Darmont-Morgan with slight technical changes. Over the years, Darmont launched three other models. The V Junior , presented in 1935, remained the only four-wheeled Darmont to go into series production. With the beginning of the Second World War , Roger Darmont had to file for bankruptcy.

Darmont-Morgan

The Darmont-Morgan is identical to the early Morgan three-wheeler except for small changes . It was produced from 1920. He had a front air-cooled two-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 1084 cm³. This accelerated the car up to a top speed of around 125 km / h. Darmont used this model successfully in several road and hill climbs, for example in the Mont Ventoux Rally . In 1921 Darmont took the first three places in the Paris-Nice endurance race.

Darmont Special

The Darmont Spécial was produced from 1926. It was equipped with a water-cooled two-cylinder engine with a displacement of about 1100 cm³. The top speed was 150 km / h. In the 1930s, more luxurious versions of the rather sparse Spécial were also sold.

Darmont Étoile de France

The Darmont Étoile de France was produced from 1932. It is very reminiscent of the Spécial.

Darmont V Junior

The Darmont V Junior is the only four-wheel car produced by Darmont. It was sold from autumn 1935 and was equipped with a two-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 1100 cc.
