The Société des Automobiles René Fonck was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

René Fonck founded the company in Fraisses-Unieux in 1920 to manufacture automobiles. The brand name was Fonck , according to a source René Fonck . The designers were Grillot and Gadoux. Production ended in 1925. A total of around 12 vehicles were built.

The company made high quality vehicles. The first vehicle had a four-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2615 cm³ . In addition, an eight-cylinder engine with a displacement of 5230 cm³ and 100 hp was available. Later a four-cylinder model with 2200 cm³ displacement and an eight-cylinder model with 4400 cm³ were in the range. The latter model had four-wheel brakes. In 1923 a model was created with a six-cylinder engine , 3923 cm³ displacement and 80 hp. Many of the engines had the same bore and stroke dimensions despite the different number of cylinders . The wheelbase is 310 cm for the first four-cylinder model and 360 cm for the first eight-cylinder model. The production figures of the individual models are estimated at three to four four-cylinder models, around six six-cylinder models and one to two eight-cylinder models.
