Ateliers de Construction Mécanique et d'Automobiles Mieusset was a French manufacturer of automobiles , trucks and fire engines .

Company history

Claude Mieusset founded a company for the production of fire pumps in Lyon in 1867 . The first automobile was built in 1898, and automobile production began in 1903, since 1906 in the newly founded Société des Établissements Mieusset , based in Lyon. The brand name was Mieusset .

With the increasing output of the engines produced, production was also expanded to include commercial vehicles and motor boats. After bankruptcy in 1910, the successor company Mieusset Père et Fils turned to the production of fire fighting vehicles .

The First World War heralded the end of the company: Vincent Mieusset, son of the company founder, suffered gas poisoning in the trenches and died in 1924. Automobile production ended in 1914 and commercial vehicle production in 1925. In 1929 the company was bought by Maheu-Labrosse.

In 1903 the range consisted of the single-cylinder model 6 CV , optionally with chain or cardan drive , the two-cylinder model 8/12 CV and the four-cylinder models 12/16 CV , 16/20 CV and 20/25 CV with chain drive . In 1906 the large four-cylinder models 40 CV and 60 CV followed , which were produced without major changes until 1914. Last year the range consisted of eight different four-cylinder models from 12/16 CV to 60/80 CV .
