Teste et Moret from 1902

Teste et Moret was a French company that also manufactured automobiles for a number of years . There is also the name A. Teste, Moret & Cie.

Company history

Anatole Teste (1821–1887) founded the Teste et Compagnie company in Lyon-Vaise in 1843 for the production of various things. This is how cables, sewing needles, frames for sun and umbrellas and steel pipes were created. In 1868 it became Teste Père et fils together with his son Auguste Teste . In 1885 the collaboration with Jules Moret began and the name was changed to Teste et Moret . In 1890 600 workers were employed. The production of automobiles began in 1898 and ended in 1903. The brand name was Teste et Moret , possibly also Teste & Moret according to a source . The designer was TC Pullinger. After the Second World War , the company was integrated into the Tissmétal Group .

vehicles

The first model, also called La Mouche , was equipped with a single-cylinder built -in engine from De Dion-Bouton . The engine was mounted in the rear and drove the rear axle via a chain. The vehicle was available as a two-seater and a four-seater. In 1902 a sports version with a two-cylinder engine and 14 hp was added.

A total of over 300 vehicles were built, seven of which still exist. A vehicle can be seen in the Musée Henri Malartre in Rochetaillée-sur-Saône . Another has taken part in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run several times .
