The Société Gobron-Brillié was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Gustave Gobron and Eugène Brillié founded the company in Paris in 1898 to manufacture automobiles. In 1900 the company moved to Boulogne-Billancourt . In 1903, Eugène Brillié left the company to manufacture cars under the name Brillié in Le Havre . The company name was initially retained. However, the brand name officially changed to Gobron as early as 1903 , even if this was disregarded in public for a long time.

Gobron engine

The first models had a four-stroke - opposed piston engine : in each cylinder worked two opposed piston, the top two were connected by a yoke and worked long connecting rod which crankshaft at the opposite end of the motor. From 1900 Nagant built the model under license .

Initially, the engines were mounted in the center of the vehicle or in the rear. In 1901 models with a front engine were added, but the more powerful models still had a mid-engine . In 1903 there were only front engines. A model with a four-cylinder engine and 40 hp was released.

A vehicle of this brand can be seen in the Musée National de la Voiture du Tourisme in Compiègne .

Production numbers

After moving to Paris in 1900, the production number doubled to 150 vehicles a year.
