The Société Française des Automobiles Corre was a French manufacturer of bicycles and automobiles .

Company history

Jean-Marie Corre founded the company in Levallois-Perret in 1895 to manufacture bicycles and began building automobiles in 1899. In 1907 the founder left the company to set up J. Corre et Compagnie . The new owners developed new vehicles and used the brand name Corre-La Licorne .

vehicles

The first models were three-wheelers and four-wheelers with built-in engines from De Dion-Bouton . In 1901 four-wheeled vehicles followed, which were similar to the Renaults built at the same time . In 1906 there were single-cylinder , two-cylinder and four-cylinder models with engines between 8 and 20 hp .

In 1904 a four-cylinder model was created that was used on the long-distance journey from Paris to Barcelona in 1905 , but it failed. A water-cooled engine with 90 mm bore , 100 mm stroke , 2543 cm³ displacement and 15 HP power propelled the vehicle. With a wheelbase of 280 cm and a track width of 125 cm, the vehicle is 390 cm long, 156 cm wide and 152 cm high. The curb weight is given as 1250 kg. The double phaeton body design offered space for four people. As far as is known, only one copy was made. It still exists today in the hands of a Hungarian collector who uses it on classic car drives such as the 1999 London to Brighton Veteran Car Run .

Vehicles of this brand can be seen in the Musée Henri Malartre in Rochetaillée-sur-Saône and in the Musée des 24 Heures in Le Mans .
