Hippolyte Lepape founded the company that bore his name in Paris or Puteaux around 1896 and began producing automobiles. The brand name was Lepape . Production ended in 1906. Overall, the company only sold a few vehicles.

The first model was a six-wheeler with two driven front wheels. A three - cylinder radial engine with 6 hp provided the drive . In 1901, a small car with a single-cylinder engine and 5 hp and a tricycle with an air-cooled single-cylinder engine were presented at the Paris Motor Show. The tricycle was available both as a single-seater with a loading area and with two seats next to each other. In 1906 a model followed with a front engine, power transmission by means of belts and a four-seater tonneau body.
