Automoto was a French bicycle , motorcycle and automobile manufacturer.

Company history

The company was founded as Chavanet, Gros, Picard et Cie and later renamed itself SA Nouvelle de Constructions Mécanique de la Loire AUTOMOTO . It manufactured bicycles, motorcycles and cars of various classes in Saint-Étienne in the Loire department , on avenue Malakoff in Paris and in Beaulieu-Valentigney between 1899 and 1962. The company also marketed some vehicles as Svelte .

Built-in engines ( two-stroke and four-stroke ) provided the drive . The built-in motors were purchased from Chaise , Zurcher and JAP before the Second World War , and from AMC after the war . In 1962 the brand was part of the Terrot and Peugeot group .

Automobiles

The automobile production included three -wheeled tricycles , four-wheeled quadricycles , the 4½ CV model with a single cylinder engine and the 12 CV , 20 CV , 30 CV and 40 CV models with four-cylinder engines . It ended in 1907.

An automoto quadricycle can be seen at the Autoworld Brussels car museum in Brussels .
