Amédée Bollée was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company of Amédée Bollée (* 1844; † 1917) from Le Mans began producing automobiles in 1873. The brand name was Amédée Bollée . Production ended in 1881. His son, also Amédée Bollée, founded the Amédée Bollée fils company in 1885 and also produced automobiles.

1873 L'Obéissante

L'obéissante

Two V2 engines made a total of 20 hp . L'Obéissante had individually suspended wheels with stub axle steering and weighed 4000 kg. The car reaches a top speed of 42 km / h. A vehicle is exhibited in the Musée des arts et métiers in Paris .

1878 La Mancelle

La Mancelle

In 1878 Amédée Bollée designed the Mancelle model , 50 of which were built, which is why Mancelle is also considered the first production car. One original copy was in the Musée National de la Voiture du Tourisme in Compiègne in 2002 , and another is in the Musée de l'Automobile de la Sarthe in Le Mans.

1879 Marie-Anne

The public screenings of L'Obéissante and La Mancelle resulted in a large number of orders, and Amédée also accepted the order for a street train, which he completed in 1879. With 100 hp Marie-Anne had a three-speed gearshift and was able to pull 35 tons up a 6% incline. Marie-Anne was built similarly to La Mancelle . A tender carried a supply of coal and water.

1880 La Nouvelle

This was an omnibus . The vehicle was still used in 1895 in the Paris – Bordeaux car race.

1881 La Rapide

La Rapide ("the fast one") was constructed in 1881 and reached 58 km / h. The La Rapide's steam engine and control instruments were concentrated at the front so that it could be operated by one man.
