From a displacement of 1045 cm³ the engine initially developed 1.5 HP , later 2.75 HP, 3 HP and 3.5 HP. In 1898, based on his own design, a model with a two-cylinder engine was created that was still clearly derived from the Benz. This model took part in the car race from Marseille to Nice in 1898 .
