Company history

René Legros (1872–1954) had been experimenting with gasoline cars since 1894. In 1900 he founded the company in Fécamp for automobile production. The brand name was Legros . One source states that automobile production ceased between 1903 and 1906. Production ended in 1913. In addition, the Meynier Legros was created in collaboration with Albert Meynier .

vehicles

One source mentions a vehicle with an air-cooled single-cylinder engine with 4 hp in the rear and cardan drive . A second source confirms the air-cooled single cylinder engine and performance, but states that the engine power was transmitted via belts and names the model La Plus Simple . A third source indicates that the first La Plus Simple model had a single-cylinder engine with 3 hp in the front of the vehicle, a two-speed gearbox and belt drive. A more powerful model with space for four people had a 5 hp engine.

In 1902 two models followed with a built-in engine from De Dion-Bouton with 8 hp and with a built-in engine from Aster with 12 hp.

In 1904 or 1906 new models appeared, each with a two-stroke engine . The weakest model with 8 hp had a one or two-cylinder engine, depending on the source. There were also two two-cylinder models with 10 hp and 12 hp and two three-cylinder models with 15 hp and 18 hp.

In 1907, the 16/20 CV and 20/25 CV models with four-cylinder engines followed . Until production was discontinued in 1913, these two models and a two-cylinder 9 CV model were available .
