history

Upper and Lower Thern

The place Ternie is mentioned for the first time in a deed of donation from Emperor Heinrich IV. From 1066 .

A distinction between Oberthern and Untererthern is first found in a land register of the Passau Monastery from 1320, where an Inferior Tern and a Superior Tern are mentioned.

The mediaeval ownership shows in 1590 possessions of the Göttweig Abbey , the Garsten Abbey and the Countess Hardegg . The church in Oberthern was probably built in 1401, and there is documentary evidence of a church bond from 1635. The church was expanded in 1961 with an extension.

Although there are reports of a teacher in Oberthern as early as the 17th century, it was not until the Theresian school reform of 1787 that Ober- and Unterthern had their own school. The elementary school in Oberthern was closed in 1966 and added to the Großweikersdorf school district.

Groß- and Kleinwetzdorf

The first unequivocal mention of the name Wetzdorf comes from the valid book (income register) of the Zwettl monastery from 1346.

The parish was founded in 1783 as part of the Josephine reforms .

In the middle of the 16th century, Wetzdorf Castle was built in Kleinwetzdorf , a two-storey complex consisting of three courtyards, which was expanded to include a castle chapel in 1726. Joseph Gottfried Pargfrieder , a supplier to the Austro-Hungarian army, acquired the castle in 1832 and had the Heldenberg memorial (1846–1849) and the English garden with a cone-shaped mountain look out.

Glaubendorf

The name of the place is derived from the first name Chlubo , etymologically not from "believe", but from "(auf) klauben" (collect, pick up). The spelling Chlubendorf was used in old documents , the earliest written mention was around 1130 as Cloubendorf .

In Glaubendorf originated around 5000 BC. Two circular moats . The smaller Glaubendorf 1 complex consists of two concentric trenches. Glaubendorf 2 comprises three trenches of 71 m, 90 m and 109 m in diameter around an inner palisade circle with a diameter of 50 m (i.e. 158 m in length, 650 tree trunks). By geomagnetic prospecting were detected (probably originally six) Erdbrücken as additions to the interior and two goals in five palisades ring. The excavation volume is estimated at 6100 m³, the construction time at 3 to 5 years.

Reconstruction of a circular moat for the Lower Austrian State Exhibition 2005

For the Lower Austria. State Exhibition 2005, a circular moat was reconstructed on Heldenberg in Kleinwetzdorf. It is now part of the regular exhibition on Heldenberg.

The original location of the Glaubendorf 2 facility can also be visited and walked through (around 500 m of dirt road signposted from the railway underpass on the Glaubendorf - Ruppersthal road). The dimensions of the complex have been made visible through planting.

The parish Glaubendorf was founded before 1256. The parish church was most likely founded by the Kuenringers and, like that of Kühnring, is consecrated to the apostles Philip and James. The current church building dates back in part to the 14th century.
