geography
Oberthern lies in the valley of the Therngrabenbach on the state road L27 , which leads from Horner Straße to Hollabrunn .
history
A place Ternie was mentioned for the first time in the 11th century in a deed of donation from King Henry IV . The distinction between Oberthern and Unterthern was first made in 1320 in a land register of the Passau monastery, where an inferior tern and a superior tern are named. In 1600 the Göttweig Abbey , the Garsten Abbey and the Hardeggs appear as landlords . After the reforms of 1848/1849 , Oberthern was constituted as an independent municipality in 1850. This was assigned to the district of Ober-Hollabrunn until 1868 and then to the Hollabrunn district .
