geography

Nappersdorf-Kammersdorf is located in the hill country of the Weinviertel in Lower Austria, northeast of Hollabrunn , approx. 70 km north of Vienna on the way from Hollabrunn to Laa an der Thaya. The area of the market town covers 38.86 square kilometers. 7.05 percent of the area is forested. The places in the community are shaped by the centuries-old building culture of the cellar lanes.

The municipality in the hilly country southeast of the Laaer Basin lies limmologically in the catchment area of the Mottschüttelbach, which flows through the municipality of Großharras to the Pulkau and which arises in the cadastral municipality of Kammersdorf through the confluence of the Gießbach (from Kleinsierndorf via Kammersdorf), the Patzisergrabenthalergraben and the Dürnle; it also records the Galgenberggraben coming from Kleinweikersdorf via Diepolz. The Rötschelgraben from Haslach and the Hausweingartengraben from Oberstinkenbrunn via Nappersdorf flow into the Dürnleisgraben in Kleinweikersdorf. Also in Kleinweikersdorf, the Oberstinkenbrunnerbach, continued as Nappersdorfergraben, flows into the Hausweingartengraben.

history

Kammersdorf

The place name (first documented in 1252 Camerstorff; 1261 Chomatsdorf) is derived from a Slavic personal name composed of Chom (about Chometa as a short form of Duchomenta).

The Wartberg (now incorrectly "Waldberg") at the southern end of the village and the corresponding Burgstall near Kleinsierndorf point to the importance of the place in the old road network: Several old roads come together here, such as the Klippenzugstraße, the Großmugler Hochstraße and the so-called Northern Hochstraße. The field name "Tettenhenst", which is also used in the course of the old street and sticks to the mountain against Kleinkadolz, describes a "difficult slope"; As recently as 1834, there is talk of the very lively commercial road running through here from Stockerau to Moravia. It appears in 1470 as a country road near the Wartberg.

Kammersdorf corresponds to the type of a Breitangerdorf, the Anger was partially built only since the previous century. In 1834 the place is described as two rows of houses, mostly thatched with thatch, which are, however, built quite irregularly and incoherently. Some of the houses that were built later emerged from press houses. The medieval village complex comprised around 40 peasant fiefdoms, a whole fiefdom originally included 32 to 35 yoke house fields.

Nappersdorf

The founding of Nappersdorf, which can be referred to as a typical rural village with a longitudinal triangular system, should be set a little later than that of the surrounding towns. Nappersdorf is mentioned for the first time at the beginning of the 12th century. At that time Anshalm von Hetzmannswiesen (today Hetzmannsdorf) gave a “Predium” to Nappersdorf to Göttweig. Anshalm, often the predecessor of the Kuenringer family, died before 1133, his widow Truta married Kadolt von Mailberg-Harras-Pulkau-Göllersdorf from the clan of the later Lords of Seefeld.

Haslach

The first traditional spelling (around 1161: Kaselaha, Haselache; Haslarm; 1210 Hasla) allows the interpretation of the place name to be “waters surrounding hazel bushes (Ache)” or even “with the hazel bushes”.

Kleinweikersdorf

The longitudinal tangle village of Kleinweikersdorf is historically in the middle of the sovereign territory of the last u. a. Kadolten named after Seefeld, which is also expressed in the place name (1208 Wichartesdorf). Wichart is one of the key names of the Seefeld lords and their Stronsdorf family group. As is customary in wine villages, the property was split up early on.

Dürnleis

The place name (1209 Durrenlitz) is perhaps derived from the Slavic “Lyss” (bald). In the High Middle Ages, the place was under the influence of the Kadolten von Seefeld and later remained connected to this Kuenringschen, from 1629 as a rule Kadolt Hardeggischen domain until the abolition of the subordination relationships. The Maria Schnee local chapel was built in the first half of the 18th century.

Kleinierndorf

The place name (1261 Syrendorf) is probably related to a Slavic personal name. In the High Middle Ages, the place was in the hands of the Seefeld Cadolts. A donation from their relative, the Lords of Ottenstein, to the Zwettel monastery in 1266 (2 fiefs, 1 half-length, 1 farmstead) was given to the Seefelder Kuenringer in Kaufweg in 1541 and remained unchanged until 1848 under the Kadolz rule. The donation also included a vineyard right on the Shirenberg next to the village, which was expanded in 1309 by the Ottensteiners on the Schellenberg and Leiser Burgstall.

coat of arms

  • Description of the coat of arms: “A golden shield, covered with a red ring, from which six black rays run to the edge of the shield.” The colors of the market town are BLACK-RED-YELLOW. The award took place on June 2, 1977.

The market coat of arms awarded on the occasion of the market survey is based on the coat of arms of Herr von Kuenring, a red ring and the colors "gold-black", as this family had owned all six villages belonging to the community since the 12th century. The six black rays emanating from the ring symbolize the six cadastral parishes, the ring in its unity symbolizes the unity of the parish.
