Martin Automobiles , previously Martin Production , was a French manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

In 1972, Georges Martin founded Martin Production in Les Sables-d'Olonne . At first he manufactured tubular frames for racing motorcycles, later also almost complete motorcycles, but without engines. In 1984 the prototype of an automobile was created. Production started in 1986. In the same year the name was changed to Martin Automobiles . The brand name was Martin . The vehicles were u. a. exported to Belgium , Great Britain , Japan and Portugal . Sales in Germany took over Laurent Pigeau Automobiles from Inning . The vehicles were available both complete and as a kit car . In autumn 1995 the company had 27 employees. Production ended in 1996 when the company went into liquidation . Société Vibraction , founded in Roanne in 1997, continued to manufacture the Tilbury model .

The first model TTM or TTM GM 0 was a roadster in the style of the Lotus Seven . A four-cylinder engine from the Ford Sierra with a displacement of 1600 cm³ provided the drive . This was followed by replicas of the AC Cobra named Matou or TTM GM 1 and the Ford GT 40 as GTA 40 or TTM GM3 . V6 engines and V8 engines from Ford with 3000 and 5000 cc displacement were available for these models .

In addition, Martin took over the production of the Tilbury in 1991 , which continued to be marketed as Tilbury .

Production numbers

The company produced around 550 replicas of the Lotus Seven, around 90 replicas of the AC Cobra, 7 replicas of the Ford GT 40 and around 130 Tilbury . Together, that's around 777 vehicles. Of these, 590 were registered in France.
