Philippe Olczyk (born October 20, 1961 ) is a former Belgian car racing driver and motor journalist who also competed in rallies with a Canadian driver's license .

Philippe Olczyk worked for many years as a motor journalist for various media. He became known as the author of specialist literature on racing vehicles and their manufacturers. He wrote books on the Porsche 904 , the Ferrari 250 GTO and the Alfa Romeo TZ as well as standard works on the subjects of De Tomaso and Bizzarrini .

Racing career

After starting out in national sports car racing , Olczyk also competed in international races in the mid-1990s. At the side of Gérard Dillmann and Josef Prechtl , he made his debut at the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1993 on a Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cup . After driving 274 laps, the trio finished 22nd in the final ranking. Also in the Spa 24 Hours in 1993 he was at the start and ended this 24-hour race as a whole tenth.

In 1994 he started in the Daytona 24-hour race and was entered in the races of the BPR Global GT Series . The best place was second place in the 4-hour race in Dijon , with partner Almo Coppelli in the Venturi 600LM . He drove rallies with a Canadian license in the 2000s and has been registered at legendary events in recent years.
