Paris 1000 km race in 1994
The 13th 1000 km race of Paris , also 1000 km de Paris , took place on May 29, 1994 at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry . The race was the 4th round of the BPR Global GT Series this year.
The race
To the astonishment of the professional world, the racing calendar of the BPR Global GT Series included a 1000 km race from Paris on the Montlhéry circuit. Most of the journalists had already forgotten the racetrack, some thought it had long since been demolished. 22 years had passed since the last 1000 km race on this track. 1972 won Gérard Larrousse and Jean-Pierre Beltoise in a Lola T280 . The BPR Global GT Series was founded in the early 1990s on the initiative of Jürgen Barth , Patrick Peter and Stéphane Ratel . The first letters of the founder's surnames formed the name BPR . The series was planned to replace the sports car world championship that ended in 1992 . However, almost only private teams and many male drivers took part.
In Montlhéry only part of the oval course was driven, whereby the average speeds were reduced considerably by two artificially created chicanes. Jean-Claude Basso and Henri Pescarolo won on a Venturi 600LM . For the 52-year-old Pescarolo it was the second success after his overall victory in 1969 .
