Richard Piper
Richard Piper (born October 22, 1947 in London ) is a former British racing driver .
Career
Richard Piper began his career in 1979 in the British Formula Atlantic Championship . His best place in the overall standings of this championship was 18th in 1981. After these beginnings in monoposto racing, the Briton competed in sports car races in Europe and North America from the mid-1980s. He competed in the World Sports Car Championship and in the IMSA GTP series and was entered several times in the Le Mans 24-hour race .
He celebrated his first race win in 1985 at the Thundersports race at Brands Hatch . The Thundersports racing series was a British sports car series that was driven between 1983 and 1989. He won the Brands Hatch race together with Tiff Needell in a Chevron B26 . He also celebrated his second race win in the Thundersports series. Again with Tiff Needell as a partner, he won the Thruxton race on a March 847 in 1987 .
His best placement at Le Mans was 14th overall in 1992 .
