Raymond Touroul

Raymond Touroul (born January 1, 1939 , † March 11, 2006 in Créteil ) was a French circuit , rally driver , racing team owner and stuntman .

Career in motorsport

The versatile motor sportsman Raymond Touroul was active between 1969 and 1996 in the various racing forms and series. The connecting link in all of these activities was the Porsche sports car brand . He enters almost all of his races with models from this manufacturer; largely self-financed and reported.

As a rally driver, he competed several times in the world championship races in Morocco and on the Ivory Coast . He finished fifth in the 1971 Morocco Rally and sixth in the 1972 Tour de France for automobiles . In 1981 he became French rallycross champion and won the prologue of the Dakar Rally in 1982 .

He had his first international outing on the circuit at the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in 1969 , which he was unable to finish after a retirement. He also had his last race in Spa . When the GTR Euro Series scoring four-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps was his Porsche 993 Carrera Cup made after engine failure. There were 71 race starts between these two races; including 14 participations in the Le Mans 24-hour race . At the endurance race in western France, he celebrated two class wins ( 1971 and 1984 ) and was sixth overall - in 1971 and 1976 .

Stuntman

After the end of his racing career, Touroul worked as a stunt driver for international film production. He appeared as a driver in the productions Taxi and The Bourne Identity .
