Neil Crang (born December 31, 1949 in Melbourne ) is a retired Australian racing car driver .

Racing career

Neil Crang was primarily active as a sports car driver in the 1980s . It made its first appearance in the sports car world championship in 1980 at the 6-hour race at Brands Hatch . As a partner of Ian Taylor and Mario Hytten , he finished the race in the Tiga SC79 in tenth place overall. In the following years he was a works driver at Tiga Race Cars and Spice Engineering and, in addition to the starts in the world championship, also entered races in the British Thundersports series . He achieved his only race win in this series when he won a race at Oulton Park in 1985 with Tim Lee-Davey . In his last race he achieved the best result in a world championship run when he was sixth overall in the 360 km race at Sandown Park in 1988 .

Neil Crang started five times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and twice in the 12 Hours of Sebring . Neither on the Circuit des 24 Heures nor in Sebring did he manage to place in the final classification.

In 1982 and 1983 he tried to achieve good results in monoposto racing and competed in races in the British Formula Atlantic Championship . He finished both seasons in sixth place in the annual ranking.
