Paris 1000 km race 1961
The third 1000 km race in Paris , also known as Paris 1000 Kilometers , took place on October 22, 1961 at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry . The race was the 13th round of the FIA GT Cup this year.
The race
The FIA GT Cup only had a short lifespan. Introduced in 1960 , the second season in 1961 was already the last. The championship was introduced to offer teams and drivers of GT vehicles a corresponding field of activity. In 1962 , the GT races were part of the World Sports Car Championship .
The 1000 km race of 1961 was the second in a row that was advertised exclusively for GT vehicles. After 6½ hours of racing time there was a close finish. The two Mexican brothers Pedro and Ricardo Rodríguez won with a margin of 31 seconds over the Belgians Willy Mairesse and Lucien Bianchi . Both teams started with a Ferrari 250 GT SWB .
