Paris 1000 km race in 1968
The eighth 1000 km race in Paris , also Les 1000 km de Paris (Course International de Vitesse D'Endurance), Linas-Montlhéry , took place on October 13, 1968 at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry . The race was not part of any racing series.
The race
Again the 1000 km race in Paris took place without championship status. Nevertheless, Porsche reported three works cars. In the race, the works 908 had almost no opponents and two of the three cars celebrated a superior one-two victory. Hans Herrmann and Rolf Stommelen won with a thirty second lead over teammates Vic Elford and Rudi Lins .
The only serious competitor for Porsche was the works - Matra MS630 from Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Johnny Servoz-Gavin . However, the prototype failed after 14 laps due to a defective oil pump.
