Jean-Pierre Hanrioud
Jean-Pierre Hanrioud (born October 23, 1936 in Bourg-en-Bresse ) is a former French racing driver .
Racing career
Jean-Pierre Hanrioud worked in the Grenoble region together with Victor Arbez as a mountain guide and ski instructor in the early 1950s . At the end of the 1950s he began motor sports.
Rallying
After a few starts at local rallies , he drove the 18th Liège-Rome-Liège rally in 1959 in a Peugeot 203 Speciale and, in addition to taking 13th place overall, also achieved victory in the GT 1300 class. His first place at the top of a rally was fourth in the Rallye International de Genève in a Renault . His co-driver was Claude Arbez, a brother of Victor Arbez.
Jean-Pierre Hanrioud started mainly in the French championship and the European rally championship . He was able to achieve two overall victories. In 1965 he won the Rallye du Mont-Blanc on an Alpine A110 and in 1966, again with an Alpine A110, the Rallye Lyon-Charbonnieres -Stuttgart-Solitude . His best place in the World Rally Championship was 13th overall in the 1973 Monte Carlo Rally .
Circuit racing
In 1962 Hanrioud became a works driver at Panhard & Levassor and started in the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring and the 24-hour race in Le Mans . Success in the index ranking was of great importance for Panhard's small-displacement racing cars, which was just as important in the 1960s as overall victory. Hanrioud contested the race with partner Pierre Lelong on a CD Dyna . At around 11 p.m. the car was in third place in the index when the Dyna overturned at the level of the Dunlop arch for an unknown reason and came to rest with the wheels up. Hanrioud was able to get out of the wreck unharmed. After his racing activities at Panhard, he started for a few years as a private driver and was a team member at Alpine from 1965 and 1966 .
Hanroiud competed in sports car races until the end of the 1972 season . His best result was second overall in the Paris 1000 km race in 1966 . He was never able to classify himself in his six starts at Le Mans. His only outing at the Sebring 12-hour race ended in 1968 with 13th place overall.
