The sixth 1000 km race of Paris , also 1000 km de Paris, Montlhéry , took place on October 16, 1966 at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry . The race was not part of any racing series.

The race

In 1962 and 1964 , the 1000 km race in Paris was a championship run in the World Sports Car Championship . Since its inception, there have been fatal accidents on the dangerous and feared Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry for many drivers. In 1964, Peter Lindner and Franco Patria were killed in a collision during the race . In 1965 the event was no longer given world championship status and was canceled. The endurance race took place again in 1966 , but this year it was not part of any racing series.

Three French teams brought factory cars to Montlhéry. Matra Sports reported two MS620s driven by Jean-Pierre Jaussaud , Henri Pescarolo , Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Johnny Servoz-Gavin . Both cars retired early in the race due to ignition damage and an accident. Alpine reported an A210 and an M64 and Ford France a GT40 for Jo Schlesser and Richard Attwood . Two other works cars came from Great Britain; the British Motor Corporation brought two MGB to the line.

After the two Matura failed and the three GT40s in the race, there was a secure lead and a superior victory for David Piper and Mike Parkes in a Ferrari 250LM .
