Jean-Louis Marnat

Jean-Louis Marnat ( August 7, 1935 - July 15, 1985 ) was a French racing driver .

Career

Jean-Louis Marnat operation in the 1960s in Paris a shop for Mini - accessories and drove in his spare time with a Mini Cooper S hillclimb . In 1964 he made his debut at the Le Mans 24-hour race with a works Triumph Spitfire . Marnat was Jean-François Piot's team-mate , but dropped out early after an accident. In the same year he drove the Tour de France for automobiles and was 22nd for Triumph in the 1000 km race in Paris . Piot was his teammate again.

In 1966 he was an important partner in the Marcos Mini GT project and finished 15th in the race with Claude Ballot-Léna . In 1967 he became a works driver at Renault Alpine and contested his last Le Mans race with the Alpine A210 in 1968 , but retired.

After his racing career ended in 1971, Marnat opened another shop for mini accessories in Paris and died in a car accident in July 1985.
