Stenocactus ochoterenanus is a species of the genus Stenocactus in the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Stenocactus ochoterenanus grows individually with depressed spherical bluish green shoots and reaches heights of up to 8 centimeters with a diameter of 10 centimeters. The approximately 30 narrow ribs are wavy and broadened around the yellowish areoles . The four flat and wide central spines are yellow and become straw-colored with age. The top of them are 5 to 6 inches long and 2 millimeters wide. The lower central spines become even wider. The 22 or more needle-shaped radial spines are white. They are all the same length with up to 1.2 centimeters, spread out and bent back over the shoot.
The light pink or white flowers have a slightly purple central stripe. The spherical fruits are green.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Stenocactus ochoterenanus is common in the Mexican states of Querétaro and Guanajuato . It was first described in 1933 by Ernst Tiegel .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
