Max Jean (born July 27, 1943 in Marseille ) is a former French racing driver .
Career
Jean spent a large part of his racing career in the French Formula Ford , which he was able to complete as an overall winner in 1968. In 1970 he moved to Tecno in Formula 3 .
In 1971 , thanks to his sponsor, the lubricant manufacturer Motul , he got the chance to compete for the Frank Williams Racing Cars team in a March 701 at his home Grand Prix at the Paul Ricard Circuit . Starting the race from position 22 on the grid, he crossed the finish line nine laps behind winner Jackie Stewart .
This was his last Formula 1 race. In the years that followed, Jean drove in Formula 2 and Formula 3, including for the Martini team.
His name is also given as Jean Max in some sources .
