Jean Kerguen
Jean Kerguen (born August 23, 1925 in La Chapelle-Caro , † September 16, 2005 in Le Cannet ) was a French racing driver and entrepreneur.
Career in motorsport
Jean Kerguen was one of the largest Aston Martin dealers in France in the 1950s . This explains the many races with vehicles of the British brand. The second vehicle manufacturer with which he was associated was Porsche . In the late 1950s he competed in Formula 2 races with Porsche models . The planned involvement in the 1958 Morocco Grand Prix in a Porsche RSK did not materialize, however.
Kerguen became known as a sports car driver. His first international appearance was in 1953 in a sports car race in Marrakech . The race, which was won by André Guelfi on a Gordini T15S 2.3 , he finished in seventh place. In 1956 he finished sixth in the Agadir Grand Prix and a year later made his debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . His good relations with Aston Martin enabled him to work on an Aston Martin DB3S . Together with his compatriot Jean-Paul Colas , he finished the race in eleventh place in the overall standings.
By the end of his active career in 1966, he had raced a total of ten times at Le Mans. His best placement was 10th in 1958 . In 1959 he finished fourth in the Tour de France for automobiles (with Robert La Caze in a Porsche 356 Carrera ) and in 1963 second in the 6-hour Dakar race .
