Giancarlo Sala is a former Italian racing car driver .
Career in motorsport
Giancarlo Sala was a regular starter in the Mille Miglia in the 1950s . When he first appeared in 1950 , he dropped out. He achieved his first place in the final classification in 1952 when he set the 161st fastest time on a Fiat 500 . 30th in 1955 , driven by an Alfa Romeo 1900TI , was his best result in the 1000 mile race.
Sala won the Coppa Ascari in 1960 and 1961 and from 1962 was a team member at the Scuderia Sant'Ambroeus, run by Eugenio Dragoni . In 1962 he was engaged for the Italian racing team in the World Sports Car Championship , made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he finished tenth, and achieved his best with 12th place at the 1000 km race in Paris Result in the world championship away from Le Mans.
Giancarlo Sala remained active as a driver until 1970. His last start as a professional driver was in the Targa Florio , where he retired.
