The Jelling – Billund ( Danish Billundbanen ) railway is a planned Danish single-track railway line that will run from Vejle via Billund Airport to Legoland Billund terminus . With this train the second most important airport in Denmark is to be connected to the railway network. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2017 [obsolete] and the line is expected to open in 2020.
history
On May 13, 2014, the Social Democrats , Radikalische Venstre , Dansk Folkeparti and Socialistisk Folkeparti agreed to provide 734 million kronor for the new route. The line is being expanded as a full-line railway, the variant with a Letbane has been discarded.
1.58 million transport cases per year were specified for the planning.
Due to a new agreement with regard to the environmental impact assessment ( Danish “VVM-redegørelse” - “vurdering af virkninger for miljøet” ) the schedule has been adjusted. The corresponding hearings should take place in the fourth quarter of 2017 and the report should be presented in mid-2018. However, this schedule adjustment should have no effect on the time of completion.
Lines
So far, Banedanmark has had two possible routes for the route to Billund examined:
- a distance of Jelling at Billund Airport over and further to Legoland Billund
- a stretch from Gadbjerg past Billund Airport to Legoland
A rail route to Jelling will be an advantage for many travelers heading to Billund Airport and Legoland, as well as those traveling from there to Vejle , Kolding and Odense .
The two new stations Billund Lufthavn and Legoland Billund are to be built as single-track stops.
