Jean-Paul Libert (born October 14, 1955 in Kigali ) is a former Belgian racing driver and entrepreneur.

Career in motorsport

Jean-Paul Libert was mainly active in touring and sports car racing . He had one of his first international racing appearances at the Daytona 24-hour race in 1980 . As partner of the two Venezuelans Francisco Romero and Ernesto Soto in a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR, the race ended in 13th place overall. In 1981 he drove a Mazda RX-7 from Z & W Enterprises at the races in Daytona , Sebring and Monza in the World Sports Car Championship .

In 1981 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Ferrari 512BB LM from Rennod Rating . Libert competed ten times in the 24-hour race in France. His best placement in the final classification was sixth overall in 1982 , together with Pierre Dieudonné and Carson Baird . In 1985 he won group B class ; he drove a BMW M1 with team partner Edgar Dören and Martin Birrane .

His last race participation was in 2001 in the 24-hour race of Spa-Francorchamps, which he finished 20th in the overall standings.

The entrepreneur

In addition to his career in motorsport, Libert was active as an entrepreneur. He was the founder of DxLus, a company that organized trips and trips for owners of exclusive sports cars. He also built up a sales organization for computer and online games, which among other things introduced the game pirelligpchallange in the USA.
