Frank Stippler (born April 9, 1975 in Cologne ) is a German professional racing driver in touring car and GT racing .
Career
Frank Stippler started his career at the age of 18 in a historic Alfa Romeo that he restored and tuned himself for over three years and came to modern racing through a test in a Ford Escort Cosworth from tuner Wolf.
He was runner-up in the Porsche Carrera Cup in 2000 and 2002. In 2001, he took the team Zakspeed in the Chrysler Viper GTS-R at the 24 Hours Nürburgring in part. In 2002 he won the "Autocar Drift Challenge", a show event in which racing drivers from many racing series, including Formula 1, take part. In 2003 he achieved his greatest success so far when he achieved the double victory in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and the Porsche Michelin Supercup on his Porsche 996 GT3 Cup .
After working for Audi as a test driver in 2004 , in which he finished fourth in the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring with an Abt - Audi TT-R together with Christian Abt , Karl Wendlinger and Patrick Huisman , he was able to drive an Audi in 2005 A4 DTM take 14th place overall in the DTM . The Audi driver achieved his best result of the season with fifth place at the season finale at the Hockenheimring .
In the 2006 DTM season , Stippler was again at the start with an Audi A4 from the previous year, he drove for Audi Sport Team Rosberg. A year later he drove an Audi RS4 in the Swedish touring car championship and was able to collect some successes there.
For the 2008 season , Stippler has signed on to the ADAC GT Masters . In 2013, his 10th year in the service of Audi, he started the season with a 2nd place in the GT category at the 24-hour race in Daytona, in which the victory after 24 hours by the blink of an eye of 1.2 Seconds was missed. At the Nürburgring, he achieved pole position with a new lap record in the 24-hour race and finished the race as the best-placed Audi in 5th place. In 2013, in addition to the 24-hour races in Nürburg / Spa-Francorchamps and Daytona, he contested the FIA races GT Series, Blancpain Endurance Series and VLN Nürburgring.
