Hollnseth is located in the east of the district of Cuxhaven on the Geest . The district of Rotenburg (Wümme) borders in the southeast, south and southwest and the district of Stade borders on the east on the other bank of the Oste .

history

Incorporation

The Hollnseth parish was created on July 1, 1972 through the merger of Abbenseth and Hollen . The village of Langeln , which is also part of the municipality , previously belonged to the municipality of Abbenseth.

Surname

The community name is a neologism from the place names of the two old communities and consists of Holln for Hollen and -seth for Abbenseth.

History of the districts

Hollen was first mentioned in 1004. Abbenseth was first mentioned in a document in 1510 .

Justification of the coat of arms: The shield images were borrowed from the coats of arms of the communities Abbenseth and Hollen, from which the new unified community Hollnseth was formed.

Culture and sights

In the course of the 1000th anniversary in 2004, a barn was converted into an exhibition on the history of the town of Hollen, which can be viewed as the Hollen Document Museum.
