Jeffrey Schmidt (born March 23, 1994 ) is a Swiss automobile racing driver .

Career

Jeffrey Schmidt started karting in 2001 . Until 2010 he started in the Swiss, French and German kart championships. His biggest success in 2008 was the runner-up title in the KF3 class of the Swiss Kart Championship . At the same time he drove from 2008 to 2010 in the CIK-FIA European Championship .

In 2011 and 2012 he competed in the ADAC Formula Masters and was third in the annual ranking in his second year with the Lotus team.

Schmidt then switched to GT motorsport and drove in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany from 2013 to 2016 . There he celebrated his best position of the season in 2015 with 3rd place in the drivers' championship. In the Porsche Supercup he also stepped down from 2013 bis 2016 and occupied the sixth place in his last season in this series his best result.

In 2013 he drove his first long-distance race in a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring .

In the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East , he started for the Lechner Racing team in the 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 seasons. In the second season he reached third place in the overall standings.

From 2017 to 2019 Schmidt competed in the ADAC GT Masters . There he achieved his best result so far with 8th place in 2018 .

As part of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship , he competed for the Montaplast by Land-Motorsport team in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 in the GTD class at the Daytona 24-hour race in 2017 and 2018 . Both races ended with 19th place in 2017 and 27th place in 2018. At the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race in 2018 , he drove together with the two brothers Kelvin and Sheldon van der Linde in an Audi R8 LMS GT3 third place overall.
