Fred Plevier ( 1931 - October 5, 1965 ) was a Dutch comedian and guitarist.

Life

Fred Plevier and his friend Piet Bambergen formed the comedian duo De Mounties from 1960 to 1965 , after they had worked together in this constellation from 1950 to 1956. Back then, on the advice of doctors, Plevier had given up his involvement with the Mounties after suffering a heart attack.

In 1961 the Mounties had their first television appearance on the Dutch Rudi Carrell Show . When Rudi Carrell switched to Radio Bremen a few years later , he offered Bambergen to come to Germany with him. However, he refused, because he did not want to abandon Plevier after twenty years of friendship, and instead the cabaret artists Reinhold Brandes and Joachim Wolff were hired for Carrell's new show . De Mounties received their own TV show on VARA in the fall of 1965 . On October 5, 1965, Plevier suffered another heart attack in front of the camera and died. About a month after his death came out the hit Wie, is wie, groot schandaal in our family , a cover version of Shawn Elliott's Shame and Scandal , which the Mounties had recorded shortly before Plevier's death. René van Vooren followed him on the side of Bamberg in the duo De Mounties .
