Jürgen Trimborn

Jürgen Trimborn (born June 19, 1971 in Cologne ; † September 25, 2012 in Bad Münstereifel ) was a German cultural and film scholar who mainly worked as a freelance writer . He wrote non-fiction books on the subject of film and television as well as biographies about Leni Riefenstahl , Arno Breker , Johannes Heesters , Hildegard Knef , Rudi Carrell , Romy Schneider and Rainer Werner Fassbinder .

Life

Trimborn studied theater, film and television studies, art history, German literature, history and philosophy at the University of Cologne and received his doctorate in 1997 with a thesis on monuments as stagings in public space in the subject of art history. He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Theater, Film and Television Studies (University of Cologne) and at the Theater Studies Collection in Schloss Wahn. During this time he also began writing a habilitation thesis with the working title The Pose of the Vamp in the Cinema of the Twenties and Thirties , which he broke off in 2000.

Since then he has worked as a freelance writer of non-fiction books. In 2002 his highly acclaimed biography of Leni Riefenstahl appeared, entitled Riefenstahl. A German career in the Aufbau-Verlag was published and was nominated for the German Book Prize. The biography was subsequently translated into numerous languages. A film version is in preparation.

In 2003 he published a biography of Johannes Heesters under the title Der Herr im Frack and in 2005 a Hildegard Knef biography. In 2006 he published a book about Rudi Carrell's life's work in close collaboration with the showmaster. In 2008, on the 70th birthday of Romy Schneider, his volume Romy and her family came onto the book market. In 2011 Trimborn's new book Arno Breker was published . The artist and the power. The biography of Hitler's favorite sculptor, and in 2012 his biography A Day is a Year is a Life about the filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder.

According to information from Ullstein-Verlag, he died after a long and serious illness and was buried privately in a quiet forest in the Eifel.
