Kent Andersson
Kent Andersson (born August 1, 1942 in Landvetter , Sweden; † August 29, 2006 ) was a Swedish motorcycle racer . He started mainly in the class up to 125 cm³ and up to 250 cm³.
Life
Andersson drove his first races at the age of eleven, at 19 he competed in the 250cc class on a Monark and later on a Bultaco . In 1966 he got his first Grand Prix points on a Husqvarna .
Andersson celebrated his first big success in the class up to 250 cm³ of the motorcycle world championship in 1969 at the German Grand Prix at the Hockenheimring . He drove his most important victories between 1966 and 1975 , in particular his 18 Grand Prix victories, on Yamaha . He got 52 podium places.
In 1969 Kent Andersson was runner-up in the 250cc class behind the Australian Kel Carruthers . In 1973 he was the 125cc world champion ahead of the British Chas Mortimer and in 1974 ahead of the Swiss Bruno Kneubühler .
