Manuel Poggiali
Manuel Poggiali (born February 14, 1983 in Borgo Maggiore , San Marino ) is a San Marino motorcycle racer .
Career
Manuel Poggiali won the motorcycle world championship in the 125 cc class on Gilera in 2001 at the age of 18 and the world championship title in the 250 cc class on an Aprilia in 2003 during his rookie season . In the 2004 season he was unable to defend his title and was only ninth overall. Poggiali then switched back to the 125cc class. He finished the 2005 season in tenth overall. This was followed by the change to KTM and the return to the 250 cc class, he finished the season 14th in the overall classification. Then Poggiali decided to take a year off. In 2008 he started again in the 250 cm³ class, but ended his career at the age of 25 during the disappointing season due to motivation problems.
In his 131 starts in the motorcycle world championship , Manuel Poggiali achieved twelve wins , 35 podium places, eleven pole positions and seven fastest laps .
In the 2013 season he will return to the Superbike class of the Italian Road Motorcycle Championship and will drive for the Scuderia Corse Team Grandi.
