1961 season>

The 1960 motorcycle world championship season was the twelfth in the history of the FIM - motorcycle road world championship .

Seven races were held in the class up to 500 cm³, six in the class up to 250 cm³ and in the classes up to 350 cm³ and up to 125 cm³ as well as five races for the sidecar .

  • The number of rated runs was calculated with an even number of races held by halving this number and then adding one. In six races, four went into the championship ranking.
  • If an odd number of races was held, the number of runs was added by one and then halved. In seven races, four were therefore counted.

Deaths

  • The Australian Bob Brown had an accident on July 23, 1960 during the 250 cc training for the German Grand Prix at the Solitude in Stuttgart and died a short time later in a Stuttgart hospital from the head injuries he suffered.
