The 1983 motorcycle world championship season was the 35th in the history of the FIM - motorcycle road world championship .

In the class up to 500 cm³ twelve, in the classes up to 250 cm³ and up to 125 cm³ eleven, in the class up to 50 cm³ seven and in the sidecar eight races were held.
