Werner Schwärzel (born September 6, 1948 in Lahr ) is a former German motorcycle racer .

Between 1973 and 1985 he managed as a pilot with his co-drivers Karl-Heinz Kleis, Andreas Huber and Fritz Buck to win the vice world championship a total of six times and the German motorcycle road championship in the motorcycle team. In 1982 he won the world championship title with Andreas Huber.

Career

The entry into the motorcycle world championship in 1973 was completed by the Werner Schwärzel / Karl-Heinz Kleis team on a self-made team with a König boat engine as vice world champion. In the following year , despite a higher total number of points , they again achieved the runner-up title compared to the world champions Klaus Enders / Ralf Engelhardt. The regulations favored with match results make the BMW -Werksteam. With victory at the 1974 German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring , Schwärzel was the first to help a two-stroke engine win in the sidecar.

From 1975 to 1984 Andreas Huber from Oberkirch did gymnastics in the boat . In 1977 and 1978 the Fath engine was driven on a team named after the main sponsor ARO . In 1982 , at the last race in Hockenheim, they became the last German pairing to become world champions. The Seymaz team used, however, did not allow it to achieve a victory this season.

In 1985 Werner Schwärzel started his last season with his co-driver Fritz Buck. He finished the World Cup tied with the Dutch world champions Egbert Streuer / Bernhard Schnieders again as “runner-up”.

Since the end of his career, Werner Schwärzel has been working as a tuner on racing engines in his workshop in Meißenheim and has also looked after the former motocross vice world champion Pit Beirer for several years .

For his successes in motorsport, Schwärzel received the Silver Laurel Leaf from Federal President Walter Scheel in 1975 .
