* The German co-driver Sandor Pohl had a fatal accident at the sixth race of the season in Assen, the Netherlands. The sidecar of the Stefan Kiser / Sandor Pohl team had spun around the corner of Haarbocht and rolled over. Pohl was thrown out of the wreck and hit head-on by the following team, John Smits / Gunter Verbrugge. The run in Assen was then canceled and not counted.
