Enrico Becker
Enrico Becker (born August 24, 1982 in Wernigerode ; † July 12, 2014 in Hohenstein-Ernstthal ) was a German motorcycle racer .
Becker lived in Drübeck and grew up there. He completed his first race in 1999 at the Hockenheimring , from which he emerged as the winner. In 2005 he became Kurt Hock's co-driver and with him four times (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012) German runner-up in the team class . Becker achieved the best overall result in the World Championship with Hock 2011, when the team came third in the overall standings behind Pekka Päivärinta / Adolf Hänni and Ben Birchall / Tom Birchall. A victory in a world championship run was not granted to him. When Kurt Hock won the Sachsenring in 2010, Becker was out due to injury.
On July 12, 2014, he had a fatal accident during the second qualifying practice for the teams before the run for the World Championship as part of the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring . The LCR - Suzuki team, driven by Kurt Hock and currently in third place during the training, drove unbraked over the gravel strip into the guardrail at the entrance to the Saxon bend without any interference from third parties and immediately went up in flames. Becker died at the scene of the accident, while Hock was brought to an accident clinic in Chemnitz with serious injuries .
