history
The origin Drübecks goes to a Benedictine monastery back, whose first documentary mention in 960 by King I. Otto took place. The main and namesake of the Drübeck Monastery was Saint Vitus (Veit). In the 10th century the Romanesque monastery church was built, which is now a well-known monument of Romanesque architecture and is part of the Romanesque Road . Furthermore, the monastery and the monastery garden are part of the Garden Dreams Saxony-Anhalt project . The small settlement with the traditional name "Dri Beke", which means "three brooks", formed a unit with the monastery for many centuries.
Around 20 people were demonstrably sentenced to death at the stake in witch trials from 1521 to 1608 in Wernigerode . Among the victims of witch hunts belonged Mette Fliß from Drübeck (1583).
Today Drübeck is important for tourism . To the east of the monastery is the village of St. Bartholomew's Church , which was built at the end of the 19th century on the site of a previous medieval building.
The last mayor of the former municipality was Günter Abel.
Together with Darlingerode, Drübeck was incorporated into the city of Ilsenburg (Harz) on July 1, 2009. At the same time, the Ilsenburg (Harz) administrative community , to which Drübeck had belonged until then, was dissolved.
